M. Bison: The Dictator of Psycho Power

Street Fighter 2026-08-30 about 4 min

When it comes to "the big villain" of Street Fighter, M. Bison is the name. The military uniform, the cap, the wicked grin, and that purple Psycho Power — he is practically the template for "fighting-game boss".

The dictator of Shadaloo

M. Bison (Vega in Japan) is the leader of Shadaloo, known as the "Dictator". Unlike Rugal, who collects statues, or Akuma, who only seeks a fight, Bison's ambition is pure — rule the world.

To that end he staged fighting tournaments, recruited the Four Heavenly Kings, and infiltrated governments, building Shadaloo into a vast underground empire.

Psycho Power

Bison's signature is that iconic purple force — "Psycho Power". It can suppress opponents, project impact, and even control minds. In lore, this power is Bison's greatest ace, and the reason he's "unkillable".

His signature moves are all bound to Psycho Power:

  • Psycho Crusher: he rockets forward wrapped in purple energy, a burst of pure menace.
  • Psycho Crusher variants, the Ultimate Psycho Crusher, and others are all Psycho Power finishers.

Feuds with the heroes

Bison has crossed nearly every major character in Street Fighter: he killed Chun-Li's father, sending that Interpol agent on a lifelong hunt; he coveted the Satsui no Hado inside Ryu, repeatedly trying to control him with Psycho Power and drag him into darkness; and he was responsible for the death of Guile's comrade Nash.

You could say Bison is the embodiment of "evil" in Street Fighter — without him, many characters' stories would collapse.

The unkillable boss

What makes Bison so maddening is his "died and came back" routine. He's been defeated and even blown up in-story, yet always returns through Psycho Power in a new body. It's earned him a place among the most "tenacious" bosses in fighting-game history.

Bison may not be the deepest villain, but he is the most "fighting-game" villain — domineering, pure, and proudly, unapologetically evil.
