M. Bison: Character Profile
Fighting games have no shortage of villains, but for the title of "big villain", M. Bison is the textbook example. Military uniform, cap, purple Psycho Power — the moment he steps up, the aura of evil fills the screen.
The Dictator of Shadaloo
M. Bison is the leader of Shadaloo, known as the "Dictator". His ambition is blunt and grand — rule the world. To that end he recruited the Four Kings, staged tournaments, and infiltrated governments, building Shadaloo into a global underground empire.
Unlike some bosses, he has no tragic backstory. Bison is purely, proudly evil — and that's exactly his charm as a classic villain.
Psycho Power
Bison's power flows from that iconic purple energy — "Psycho Power". It can crush opponents, project impact, and control minds, and it's Bison's greatest asset in dominating the world.
His signature moves all draw on it:
- Psycho Crusher: he rockets at opponents wrapped in purple energy, pure presence.
- Ultimate Psycho Crusher and others round out the Psycho Power arsenal.
A villain with enemies everywhere
Bison crossed nearly every hero in Street Fighter: he killed Chun-Li's father, caused the death of Guile's comrade Nash, and tried to control Ryu with Psycho Power to drag him into the Satsui's abyss.
Precisely because he's so hated, Street Fighter's heroes are so united — their goals align perfectly: beat Bison, destroy Shadaloo.
The unkillable obsession
What makes Bison so despairing to fight is his "died and came back" routine. He's been defeated, even blown to nothing, yet always returns in a new body through Psycho Power. That "refuses to stay dead" streak became a signature of his as a classic fighting-game boss.
Bison may not be the deepest villain, but he's the most "fighting-game" villain — domineering, pure, and deliciously evil.
